Quan Nguyen

PhD

Dr Quan Nguyen is an NHMRC Leadership Fellow and the head of the Genomics and Machine Learning Laboratory at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, University of Queensland (UQ). His research combines cutting-edge technologies with computational analyses to study cancer and neuronal diseases in patient samples and mouse models. With spatial technology approaches, he generates novel data from pathological tissues to investigate potential disease markers in single cells through spatial-temporal axes. He develops advanced computational-statistical methods to identify cell types, their spatial organisation and cell-cell interactions underlying differential responses to treatment and risks of cancer metastasis. His research contributes to understanding drug actions and revealing potentially new gene targets to modulate cancer-immune cell interactions.

Dr Nguyen and his group are co-located with the Montgomery Laboratory at the IMB and collaborate using spatial omics and single cell genomics in endometriosis studies.
